Our WordPress Themes utilise the built-in blog functions available to WordPress. You can create unlimited blogs and posts all manageable from inside your WordPress Admin panel.
If you haven't already we recommend following our content import guide to import the default posts as used in the demo. You can then customize these as much or as little as you like.
How To Access Blogs
You can access the blog pages directly via WordPress under:
WordPress Admin > Posts
Working With Blogs
In this section we will explore how to work with blog/posts.
Adding A Post
Within the posts page click on the Add New button in the top left to create a new post.
Replace add title with your own title for the post.
Within the content area you can add your own content by either manually typing or clicking on the plus icon to add blocks of content. Our themes support lots of shortcode to instantly generate elements within pages as used by our default pages.
At the right of the page you have many options available:
Template - A page template is a design used by the post page. Our themes support various options including full width (no sidebar) and default (sidebar).
URL - Set the URL used by the post. Some consideration should be taken here for SEO.
Featured Image - Set a featured image. This image will display at the top of the post, you can control aspects of this image under Wizard Panel > Blog.
Allow Comments - Enable this option to add comments to the post. Comments allow a user to leave a comment, all comments will be displayed at the bottom of the post.
Categories - You can assign your post to a category. A category represents a blog with all of the posts displayed within it. For example you could name a category as blog and add that link to the menu. Any posts you add to this will display within the blog page.
Tags - A tag allows users to find posts by searching. A tag will also create a new page containing all of the posts with that tag. This is very useful if you decide to use the WordPress posts as a knowledgebase.
Excerpt - Text added here will display within the posts preview box on the tags/category pages. This gives you direct control over the preview.
When you are ready to go live click on the Publish icon in the top right.
Custom Fields - At the bottom of the post you have a section named custom fields. This can be used to add a custom banner to replace the default.
Removing A Post
To remove a post go to WordPress Admin > Posts, hover over the post you'd like to remove and click on Trash. This will remove the post from the front-end and any menu links to it. The post is moved to the Trash, it can still be restored by visiting the Trash link at the top. Once removed from the Trash it is permanently deleted.
Customizing A Post
Once you have created your post you can add content within the box under the title. Either start typing to add content or click on the Plus icon to add pre-defined blocks of content. Content blocks include paragraphs, headings, images, galleries, video/content embeds, social media and much more. Blocks can be moved around/ re-ordered as you choose.
Our themes support lots of shortcodes which will generate pre-integrated, fully customizable and responsive elements. Shortcode is similar to HTML but much easier to edit and does not require coding experience. The elements you can generate include feature boxes, pricing tables, product slides, banners & more.
We have used this same shortcode to create all of the default posts.
Adding A Blog To Menu
Once you have created and published your blog/posts you will likely want to add it to a menu so users can navigate to it. Check out our full menu guide below:
Wizard Panel Settings
Within our Theme Options panel (Wizard Panel) you can customize some settings relating to posts/blogs under the Blog tab.
